"Webelos" stands for WE’ll BE LOyal Scouts.

The Webelos is a two year program for boys who are either in the fourth or fifth grade. At this stage, boys begin to take on more challenging projects in preparation for Boy Scouts.  Your Webelos Den Leader is assisted by other Den parents and Assistant Den leader(s).

Webelos advancement is a lenghty process which is covered in great detail in the Webelos handbook and on-line at http://usscouts.org/advance/cubscout/webelos.html

The Arrow of Light is Cub Scouting's highest award and may only be earned by Webelos.  A Webelos Scout who has earned the Arrow of Light Award is prepared to join the Boy Scouts a step ahead of most others by being eligible to wear BSA's first rank of "Scout."

The twenty Activity Badges are divided into five groups of four activities each. The  activities are grouped as follows: Physical Skills, Mental Skills, Community, Technology, and Outdoor. See http://usscouts.org/advance/cubscout/webbadges.html

for a full description of requirements.

First, they earn their Bobcat Badge,if they have not done so in a previous year. Then in both years, they work toward earning Webelos Activity Pins in 20 different areas, arranged in 5 groups, and toward one of two different cloth Badges.

After earning the Webelos Badge, boys work toward Compass Point emblem and compass points by earning additional Activity Pins.

After you've earned the Webelos badge, you can earn the compass points emblem. It is awarded after you earn seven activity badges, four more in addition to the three you earned for the Webelos badge. Wear your compass points emblem attached to the button on the right pocket of the Webelos uniform shirt.

After you earn the compass points emblem,   you'll receive a metal compass point for each four additional activity badges you earn. Pin these compass points on the emblem in the "E," "W," or "S" positions, in any order you choose.  You can earn the emblem and all three compass points by completing 19 activity badges, including the three required for the Webelos Badge.
